The Rathbomne Studio will be opening on Friday 18th May with a specail celebration between 3.00pm and 6.00pm.

The Mayor and Mayoress Elect will be calling in at 4.30.

Gladys Mary Coles the renound poet and author, will aslo be reading an excert of her forthcoming book set in the Della Lucca (Della Robbia) pottery. Reflecting the workings of a studio pottery, just like the Rathbone Studio.

I have some very exciting news!!!!

I am about to open a new gallery and workshop in Birkenhead. It is at 28 Argyle Street. This premises was the original decorating and architectural department of the Della Robbia pottery.

The Della Robbia Pottery was openned in 1894 by Harold Rathbone and produced very unique and original pieces of pottery following very closely the ideas of the Arts and Craft movemnet.

The Rathbone Studio that will be open in February 2012 will be a centre for pottery workshops and exhibition. Bringing pottery back to Birkenhead.

Master Classes

I will be offering ceramic courses at my studio workshop at Atelier Burton Manor starting in the Spring.

At these workshop we will be exploring handbuilding techniques and decoration.

All work produced will be fired and there will be a informal display at the end of the workshops.

The two hour workshops will run either in the evening or at weekends for approximately eight week.
